International Fire Safety Exhibition Held in Hanoi, Boosting Vietnam's Safety Measures

Hanoi is hosting the International Fire Safety & Rescue Vietnam – Secutech Vietnam 2026 exhibition, bringing together 16 countries and territories. Major General Duong Duc Hai, Director of the Fire Prevention, Firefighting and Rescue Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security, stated at the opening ceremony on September 9 that the event is particularly significant as the nation approaches the 65th anniversary of the fire prevention force's traditional day and the 25th anniversary of the All-People Fire Prevention and Fighting Day. The exhibition showcases advanced vehicles, equipment, and technologies in security, safety, fire prevention, firefighting, and rescue operations. Hai noted the event's continuous growth in scale, content, and influence, establishing it as a reputable regional annual gathering. Vietnam faces increasingly urgent demands for fire prevention and firefighting. In 2025 and the first eight months of this year, over 5,300 fires and explosions occurred nationwide, resulting in 164 deaths and 208 injuries, with property losses exceeding VND1.4 trillion (US$54 million). The fire prevention, firefighting, and rescue police force conducted more than 2,300 rescue operations, saving over 4,000 lives. Emerging fire and explosion risks, such as those from lithium-ion batteries, electric vehicles, energy storage systems, high-rise buildings, and underground structures, necessitate appropriate technical solutions, equipment, and technologies, Hai added. Organizers stated that the exhibition will feature not only product displays but also an international seminar on developing the fire prevention, firefighting, and rescue industry, and a forum for dialogue with businesses and associations on fire prevention and firefighting. As Vietnam experiences rapid economic growth and urbanization, the proliferation of high-rise buildings and complex infrastructure presents new fire hazards. The government is prioritizing the adoption of advanced technologies and international cooperation to strengthen its fire prevention and rescue capabilities to ensure public safety.
