Cambodia Encourages Chinese Firms to Invest in Green and Digital Technologies
Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol has encouraged major Chinese corporations to expand their investments in green technologies and digital innovation within Cambodia. This initiative aims to modernize Cambodia's economy and strengthen the "Cambodia-China Industrial and Technological Development Corridor."
Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol, also First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), has encouraged major Chinese corporations to further study, explore, and expand their direct investments in Cambodia, particularly in green technology and digital innovation projects. This initiative is seen as a significant step towards modernizing Cambodia's economy. During a recent meeting with senior management of large Chinese corporations in Beijing, the People's Republic of China, Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol engaged in in-depth discussions regarding investment opportunities in key strategic sectors where Chinese companies possess expertise. These sectors included the development of clean energy such as hydropower, wind power, and solar power; the development of transportation infrastructure; and the chemical and fuel engineering sectors, including oil refineries, chemical fuel plants, and agricultural fertilizer factories. Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol highly commended the confidence and investment intentions of leading Chinese corporations, acknowledging their significant contributions to the economic and social development of Cambodia. He also reaffirmed the CDC's commitment to providing facilitation, creating favorable conditions, and supporting all investors in accordance with Cambodia's investment law, which offers high preferences and openness. He urged Chinese companies to continue expanding their investments in advanced green technology and digital innovation projects. This is expected not only to support Cambodia's clean energy transition plan but also to enhance the industrial value chain and develop local technical capabilities, thereby strengthening the "Cambodia-China Industrial and Technological Development Corridor" to be more inclusive and sustainable.
