Cambodian Minister Urges Public Trust in Government for Territorial Integrity

Minister of Defence, General Tea Seiha, urged citizens to continue to believe in the leadership of the Cambodian government in protecting national sovereignty and territorial integrity, especially as the situation in the Cambodia-Thailand border area is receiving public attention. This call was made during the occasion when the Minister of Defence and his wife, along with leaders of the Ministry of Defence, brought candles, offerings, and cash to offer to the monks residing in the 53 pagodas in Romas Hek district, Svay Rieng province. The ceremony was held at Wat Doung, located in Doung commune, Romas Hek district. The Minister of Defence conveyed greetings from Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and Samdech Kittipote Bunthea Men Sam An, Senior Advisor to His Majesty the King, to the citizens who participated. At the same time, he also touched upon the international situation, the development of the country in all sectors, as well as the situation in the Cambodia-Thailand border area, and requested citizens to continue to maintain their belief in the leadership of the government in preserving peace, stability, as well as protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Cambodia. During this ceremony, leaders of the Ministry of Defence offered incense, candles, flowers, and incense to the Buddha images and dedicated merit to the seven generations of relatives who have passed away, especially the heroic soldiers of Cambodia who sacrificed their lives to defend the motherland. The entire ceremony also observed a moment of silence to express gratitude and remember the noble sacrifices of the heroic soldiers of Cambodia. General Tea Seiha also highlighted the progress of the Buddhist clergy in Romas Hek district. Currently, there are a total of 53 pagodas in Romas Hek district, including one newly established pagoda, "Wat Thomapote Maha Vihar," with a total of 350 monks residing there. Romas Hek district also has 7 ancient pagodas with historical value and 3 pagodas designated as tourist destinations. He stated that supporting and promoting Buddhism is not only about preserving the good traditions, culture, and customs of the nation but also serves as an important foundation for moral education, strengthening solidarity, and maintaining the robustness of the national society.
