BMKG Predicts Potential for Moderate to Very Heavy Rain in 9 Indonesian Regions

The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has announced that nine regions across Indonesia have the potential for moderate to very heavy rainfall on Friday, September 11. Of these, seven regions are classified under the 'Alert' (Waspada) level, and two are under the 'Caution' (Siaga) level. According to BMKG, the potential for this rainfall is influenced by several atmospheric dynamics, including the Equatorial Rossby Waves, Kelvin Waves, and the formation of wind deceleration and convergence zones in various parts of Indonesia. Particularly in parts of southern Sumatra and Papua, unstable atmospheric conditions are supporting the growth of rain clouds. Furthermore, local convective factors are predicted to have a significant impact on rain cloud formation during the dry season. BMKG stated on its official website, "Although dry conditions still dominate most of Indonesia, the potential for locally moderate to very heavy rainfall still needs to be monitored."
