AKP Phnom Penh, September 8, 2026 -- Cambodia has highlighted its growing investment potential and called on Chinese businesses and international investors to explore opportunities in the Kingdom, as the country seeks to attract more high-quality and sustainable investment. H.E. Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), promoted Cambodia’s investment opportunities while delivering keynote remarks at the 2026 Gulangyu Forum - World Business Leaders Roundtable for Global Investment, held on Sept. 7 in Xiamen, China’s Fujian Province. Speaking to business leaders and investors, he outlined Cambodia’s commitment to creating a predictable and investor-friendly business environment, while stressing the importance of long-term cooperation and trust between investors and the host country. The DPM encouraged Chinese companies and international investors to maintain close dialogue with the Royal Government of Cambodia throughout the investment process. “Come and talk to us before you invest, talk to us while you invest, and continue talking to us after you invest,” he said. H.E. Sun Chanthol reaffirmed that the Royal Government of Cambodia stands ready to listen to investors, assist them in addressing challenges and managing risks, and work with them as a long-term partner. He stressed that trust, built through dialogue, cooperation and genuine partnership, is increasingly important in helping businesses navigate uncertainty in the global economy. The CDC First Vice Chairman also highlighted Cambodia’s strategic advantages as an investment destination, including its close economic ties with China, ASEAN and other international partners, as well as its growing connectivity with regional and global markets. He said Cambodia is committed to further strengthening economic connectivity and diversifying markets, supply chains, production bases and logistics networks to enhance resilience and create new opportunities for investors. H.E. Sun Chanthol also emphasised that successful investment should go beyond capital inflows, encouraging companies to contribute to job creation, workforce development, technology transfer, environmental protection and sustainable economic growth. The forum provided a platform for Cambodia to engage directly with international business leaders and promote investment opportunities while strengthening economic and investment cooperation between Cambodia, China and other global partners. During his stay in China, H.E Sun Chanthol also held meetings with Chinese government officials and representatives of key Chinese investors to discuss investment cooperation and opportunities in Cambodia.
