Cambodia's Tourism, Rural Development, and Environment Ministries Forge Partnership to Boost ChhPa Community Ecotourism

The Ministries of Tourism, Rural Development, and Environment of Cambodia held a meeting on September 8 at the Ministry of Environment's headquarters to discuss a joint plan for promoting the development of the ChhPa ecotourism community in Koh Kong province. This meeting was conducted in accordance with the high recommendations of Prime Minister Hun Manet. As a result of the meeting, the leaders of the three ministries agreed to develop a comprehensive and interconnected joint plan to boost the development of the ChhPa ecotourism community. This plan will prioritize the conservation of natural resources, the empowerment of communities, and community development to preserve the original identity of this beautiful area. The Ministry of Tourism will continue to support the development of this community through the development of soft infrastructure, particularly through training and capacity building in necessary skills, promoting the tourism potential of the community, and establishing connections with the private sector. The ChhPa ecotourism community is located in ChhPa Village, ChhPa Commune, Thmar Bang District, Koh Kong Province, 126 kilometers from Khemarak Phoumin City. National and international tourists can travel to the area via National Road 48, turning off approximately 5 kilometers past the Andong Tuek Bridge, and then continuing along the red dirt road until reaching ChhPa Village. The ChhPa ecotourism community is currently considered a very important and attractive tourist destination for visitors seeking adventure tourism, research into archaeology, traditions, culture, civilization, and wildlife, among other things. The community has been designated as a model community by the government and has received the Samdech Techo Prime Minister Award for Green Business in Tourism and the Cambodian Homestay Award. Key tourism potentials in the area include: 1- Area of 70 pots or Phnum Puong and ancient stone coffins; 2- Area of ancient pots and stone coffins of Phnum Peal; 3- Area of ancient pots of O'Key; 4- Peam Ta Khath; 5- O'Spat; 6- Trangoal Mountain; 7- Chhay O'Kut; 8- Veal Brak; 9- Chhay Te Veat; 10- Stueng Prat; 11- Thma Andet; 12- Damnak Khos; 13- O'Peam Kravanh.
