Fugitive Arrested at Border Crossing Highlights Inter-Agency Cooperation

On September 24, at the Mong Cai International Border Gate (near Bac Lun 2 Bridge) in Mong Cai City, Quang Ninh Province, northern Vietnam, Ms. Le Thi Ha (born 1972, from Nghe An Province), who was wanted for theft, was arrested by border guards. During immigration checks, border guards at the Mong Cai International Border Gate cross-referenced the suspect's passport information in the system, confirming an arrest warrant issued by the Long Bien District Police in Hanoi City. Ms. Ha was wanted for the crime of "theft of property." The border guards immediately detained the suspect and brought her to the Mong Cai International Border Gate for investigation in accordance with the law. Subsequently, procedures were initiated to hand her over to the Hanoi City Police. By 4:30 PM on the same day, the Mong Cai International Border Gate completed the handover procedures for suspect Le Thi Ha and all related evidence to the investigative agencies of the Hanoi City Police for processing according to legal regulations. This arrest demonstrates the effectiveness of information sharing and cooperation among law enforcement agencies within Vietnam in apprehending fugitives. For the Vietnamese government, which prioritizes security maintenance under its one-party system, such prompt and accurate case handling is essential for maintaining domestic stability and social order. Furthermore, as Vietnam continues its economic growth and international exchanges increase, border control and domestic crime detection will remain critical challenges.
