EU Delegation Visits Battambang to Inspect Solar-Powered Irrigation System

An EU delegation visited Wat Thammim commune in Battambang province, Cambodia, to inspect a community-managed solar-powered irrigation system. The visit, reported by Oxfam on September 10, 2026, highlighted the system's impact. The solar-powered irrigation system is supported through Oxfam's 'Climate Resilience for All' project and implemented by SOGE Cambodia. Funding for the initiative comes from the Irish government's international development program, channeled through the Irish Embassy in Hanoi. The inspection demonstrated that the community-managed solar-powered irrigation system helps reduce climate change-related risks and irrigation costs, thereby increasing household income. It also strengthens community leadership, particularly for women, and contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
