Despite differences in history, culture, languages, religions, levels of development, and social conditions, ASEAN member states have chosen to respect one another, build consensus, and pursue shared regional interests. This unity in diversity has shaped ASEAN’s identity, strength, resilience, and central role in the regional architecture. Vietnam's journey with ASEAN has been a testament to its dedication to regional integration. The country has actively participated in various initiatives aimed at fostering economic growth and stability within the bloc. In recent developments, data centers are accelerating growth throughout Southeast Asia, with Vietnam, Thailand, and Indonesia building capacity alongside Malaysia. Furthermore, efforts to strengthen cooperation in smart agriculture through automation and IoT are underway, highlighting Vietnam's engagement in modernizing the region's agricultural sector. However, like other member states, Vietnam faces challenges in balancing economic growth with social development and navigating the complex geopolitical landscape. The growth of SMEs, for instance, is a key indicator of economic health, with the SMEs Competitiveness Index showing fluctuations across the region. The commitment to moving upstream into higher value-added manufacturing and strengthening supply chain capabilities, as seen in Malaysia's plans, also reflects broader regional aspirations that Vietnam is part of. As ASEAN continues to evolve, Vietnam's role in upholding the bloc's central position and contributing to its overall development remains crucial.
