Nearly 10 Billion Kyats Worth of 2.4 Million Yaba Pills Seized in Tachileik

Mekong, September 23 Approximately 2.4 million Yaba pills, valued at nearly 9.6 billion kyats, were seized in Tachileik city, eastern Shan State, according to the Anti-Narcotics Police Force. A combined team, including members of the Anti-Narcotics Police Force, went to the Mae Sai stream bank in the Makahokhum ward of Tachileik city on September 20, around 8:30 PM, based on information received and accompanied by witnesses. During the search, five individuals, Saw Yan Naing, Nawarat (alias Aung Saw Ya), Ar Htoo, Zaw Lwin Oo (alias Awin), and Lwan Ko Lwin Maung (alias Mat Gyi), were found with Yaba pills and arrested. From them, a total of 2.4 million Yaba pills and 6 mobile phones were seized, with an estimated value of nearly 9.6 billion kyats at the local market price, according to the statement. Consequently, the five individuals arrested with the narcotics have been charged at the Tachileik Myoma Police Station under the Law Relating to Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances. Furthermore, the statement from CCDAC MYANMAR also indicated that investigations are ongoing to uncover the connections related to these narcotics.
