Indonesia Integrates Government Data to Enhance Social Aid Targeting

Indonesia is advancing the integration of data to more accurately identify recipients of social aid programs. This initiative aims to effectively deliver aid to the poor and vulnerable and prevent fraudulent claims. Previously, data related to social assistance was managed individually by various ministries and local governments, leading to duplication and omissions. The government is seeking to enhance the accuracy of beneficiary profiling by linking data from the National Health Insurance (BPJS Kesehatan), the Social Security Agency (BPJS Ketenagakerjaan), the Ministry of Home Affairs' population registration data, and poverty data. This is expected to ensure that those truly in need receive assistance, enabling efficient allocation of limited budgets. Furthermore, data integration is anticipated to serve as foundational information for policy formulation and impact assessment. Given Indonesia's vast territory and diverse population, the fair and effective implementation of social assistance has long been a challenge. This data integration can be seen as a testament to the government's determination to fundamentally improve public services through technology.
