Charoen Pokphand Foods (CPF), a leading Thai agro-industrial and food conglomerate, has launched its "Green Heart Hero" project to foster environmental awareness among the younger generation. The initiative aims to educate children on the importance of waste separation and carbon footprint reduction, contributing to a sustainable future. As an extension of the CONNEXT ED program, which CPF co-founded, the project transforms schools into practical learning spaces where children can engage with environmental issues and sustainability through hands-on experience. It moves beyond traditional academic learning to encourage critical thinking and real-world application. The "Green Heart Hero" program will guide children not only on how to separate waste but also to understand the lifecycle of separated waste, including its journey into recycling and value creation. Schools will track and measure the greenhouse gas reduction achieved through the students' actions, providing tangible proof of their impact. The pilot phase will involve 23 selected schools across Nakhon Ratchasima, Buri Ram, Chaiyaphum, and Saraburi provinces. CPF will provide financial support for the procurement of equipment and the establishment of waste management zones within these schools. The project anticipates that the environmentally conscious behaviors learned at school will extend to the children's homes and communities. CPF has been a dedicated supporter of the CONNEXT ED program since 2016, collaborating with 304 schools and engaging 109 employee volunteers as School Partners to develop and implement educational programs tailored to each school's context. "Green Heart Hero" is positioned not just as an environmental initiative, but as a foundational effort to cultivate a new generation that understands sustainability as an accessible concept and recognizes the power of small actions to create significant change.
