Thai authorities repatriate 112 Myanmar migrant workers detained in Ranong

YANGON, July 7 It has been learned that 112 Myanmar migrant workers who were detained at the immigration detention center (prison) in Ranong Province, Thailand, were repatriated to Myanmar by Thai authorities on the afternoon of July 7. The repatriation ceremony was held around 11:30 AM today at the Ranong Customs Port. It was confirmed that a total of 112 Myanmar migrant workers, including 87 men and 25 women, were handed over, with the Deputy Commissioner of the Ranong Provincial Immigration Police, the Myanmar Labor Attaché, and officials from nine relevant departments of the Repatriation Committee serving as witnesses. All 112 Myanmar nationals repatriated today were sent back via the Ranong-Kawthaung sea route. It is understood that they were arrested and detained for legal violations in Thailand, and after completing their sentences, they were repatriated as in this case. Similarly, it has been learned that 95 Myanmar nationals who had completed their prison sentences and were detained in Ranong Province were also repatriated to Myanmar by the Ranong Provincial Immigration Police, the Myanmar Labor Attaché based in Ranong Province, and nine relevant departments of the Migrant Worker Repatriation Committee, who collaborated to hand over the detained Myanmar nationals who had completed their sentences at the Ranong Customs Port on July 2. It is understood that the 95 Myanmar nationals repatriated today included 79 men and 16 women.
