Jonathan Ng, a visitor from Singapore, stated that his primary motivation for traveling to Da Nang was "for a cat." A video he posted on Instagram documenting his encounter with the feline has garnered nearly 600,000 views and over 100,000 likes. Globe-trotters worldwide have commented, sharing their own pilgrimages to meet the famous cat at this "tucked-away coastal cafe." The cat, named Mập (meaning "Chubby"), resides at Dom Cafe, located at 22 Le Quy Don Street. Its round build, indifferent expression, and unbothered demeanor even when petted have captivated many. Mập is considered the cafe's "true little boss," occasionally occupying customer seats without any complaints. Mập's rising popularity has propelled Dom Cafe's official Instagram account to over 102,000 followers, with comment sections dominated by foreign animal lovers. Many international commenters openly declare that a stop in Da Nang to meet Mập is "non-negotiable" when visiting Vietnam. While Dom Cafe is also home to another cat named Sua (meaning "Milk") and several friendly dogs, Mập remains the undisputed headliner drawing overseas wanderers. Beyond Mập's presence, the cafe itself attracts visitors with its tranquil ambiance and quality brews. The menu offers a variety of drinks, from traditional Vietnamese coffee to modern concoctions, all at reasonable prices.
