Cambodia Accelerates Inspection Law Development to Combat Corruption and Enhance Administrative Efficiency

On September 10, 2026, Cambodia's Ministry of Inspection held a weekly meeting to review and discuss the progress of the draft inspection law, inspection operational rules and procedures, and the implementation of laws. The meeting also covered the preparation of rules and procedures for complaint resolution and appeals, as well as the dissemination of the ministry's achievements. The meeting was attended by leaders and officials from the Ministry of Inspection, along with directors and representatives from the provincial and municipal inspection departments across the 25 provinces, participating online. Leaders from each responsible department provided detailed reports on the progress of legal normative document preparation and engaged in active discussions, offering input to ensure that the development of these documents and the execution of work become more comprehensive and highly efficient. Minister of Inspection, Sok Soken, expressed his gratitude and high appreciation to the leaders and officials at both the national and provincial/municipal levels for their diligent efforts in fulfilling their duties, which have yielded numerous achievements. He particularly highlighted the successful outcomes of the recent working meeting between the Ministry of Inspection and the National Assembly's Human Rights, Complaint Reception, and Inspection Committee. Furthermore, the Minister provided recommendations to continue promoting and accelerating the preparation of the aforementioned legal normative documents according to the set plan, to develop an inspection work action plan, and to widely disseminate the ministry's achievements. He also instructed to strengthen the implementation of duties and coordination with provincial and municipal inspection departments to be more effective in line with current laws and legal normative documents. This initiative is seen as part of the Cambodian government's efforts to strengthen the legal framework for enhancing administrative transparency and accountability, curbing corruption, and gaining public trust. The development of the inspection legal system is positioned as part of the ongoing efforts to improve governance, running parallel to Cambodia's economic growth in recent years.
