Lelamyaw Village on Bago Yoma bombed, 8 locals including 3 children killed, church destroyed

AYEYARWADDY TIMES (Taungoo), July 27 It is known that the interim government forces bombed Lelamyaw village, located on Bago Yoma in Taungoo Township, Bago Region, on July 25, without any fighting occurring. It is known that the military dropped two 250-pound bombs with a K8-W attack aircraft and intentionally fired more than 10 rounds with machine guns into Lelamyaw village, destroying the Maitaw Gu church and causing the deaths of eight local residents in a group. Due to the interim government forces' intentional firing at civilians, two families died. A family of five, including U Wanzaw (52), Etti (41), Naw Si (18), Thar Si (13), and Naw Dar (8), and a family of three, including U Hti Say (38), Daw Than Nyunt (27), and Bwe No Say (7), died. The military conducted four airstrikes on other locations besides Lelamyaw village on the same day, confirming damage to Sukwe village and Suadam village, but there were no casualties, although some tents were damaged. It is known from a report by the National Unity Government (NUG) that the military junta has been conducting intense airstrikes since the beginning of the coup, and according to statistics as of June 30, 2026, 12,896 bombings have been carried out over a period of more than 5 years, resulting in the deaths of up to 5,846 civilians.
