Over 261,000 Affected by Luis, Maymay, Habagat, Says NDRRMC

MANILA, Philippines — Over 261,000 people have so far been affected by the recent weather systems such as tropical cyclones Luis and Maymay and the southwest monsoon or habagat, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Saturday. In its latest report as of 6 a.m., the NDRRMC said that these weather disturbances have impacted more than 261,000 individuals. The council is continuing to collate and report detailed breakdowns of the damage and affected population. The Philippines, situated in a typhoon-prone region and heavily influenced by the southwest monsoon during the rainy season, frequently experiences such natural disasters. The current damage is attributed to the combined effects of these meteorological factors. The government is expected to implement support measures for the affected populations and proceed with recovery and rehabilitation efforts.
