Honoring Martyrs and Patriots at Con Dao, Digital Tech Aids Remains Identification

On July 26, Vietnam solemnly organized a memorial ceremony for Heroes, fallen soldiers, revolutionary fighters, and patriotic compatriots who sacrificed their lives at Con Dao. This event coincided with the 79th anniversary of Vietnamese Days for Wounded Soldiers and Martyrs. Con Dao, once described as a "hell on earth," has now become a sacred altar for the nation's heroes who laid down their lives. To enhance the effectiveness of tribute efforts, digital technology has been strongly applied in the "500-day campaign" focused on searching for, collecting, and identifying the remains of martyrs. This initiative not only pays homage to past sacrifices but also aims to streamline the identification process for remains, ensuring that more individuals are recognized. Nhan Dan, the official newspaper of the Communist Party of Vietnam, reports on these national commemorative events and the utilization of modern technology to support them. Con Dao is known for being a place where many political prisoners and patriots were detained and died under harsh conditions, from the French colonial era through the Vietnam War. Consequently, the island holds symbolic significance in Vietnam's journey towards independence and unification. The integration of digital technology brings a new dimension to tribute activities in such historically charged locations.
