Vietnam Promotes Art, Sports, and Public Health Initiatives
Across Vietnam, diverse initiatives are underway to promote culture, sports, and public health, including the opening of the "Land of Memories" art exhibition, a national judo championship, progress in public health screenings in Ha Tinh, and efforts to identify fallen soldiers' remains.
Various activities are being carried out across Vietnam to promote art, sports, and public health. In Quang Tri province, the "Land of Memories" art exhibition by painter and soldier Nguyen Van Nguyen has opened, co-organized with the Ho Chi Minh City Museum in Hue. Mr. Nguyen was involved in cultural activities in the "fire land" of Vinh Linh during the Vietnam War. In 2024, he donated nearly 150 sketches to the Ho Chi Minh City Museum in Hue. The current exhibition features 110 authentic and vivid sketches depicting the resistance war against the U.S. for national salvation and the labor and production life after the country's reunification. The exhibition will run until July 20, 2026. Meanwhile, in Thanh Hoa province, the "National Junior Judo Championship 2026" has commenced at the provincial Sports Gymnasium, co-organized with the Vietnam Judo Federation. Nearly 800 athletes from 19 provinces, cities, and sectors nationwide are participating. Competitions include individual male and female bouts for ages 10 to 15, junior male and female bouts, team events, and Kata (performance) competitions. Outstanding athletes will be selected for the national junior and national Judo teams to compete in international tournaments. The championship is scheduled to conclude on July 12 with a closing ceremony and awards. In terms of public health, significant progress is being made in Ha Tinh province. Since the beginning of 2026, the provincial health sector has directed healthcare facilities to conduct health check-ups and screenings for non-communicable diseases for residents. To date, over 606,000 people in Ha Tinh have received free health check-ups and screenings, accounting for 45.4% of the province's population. The Ha Tinh health sector continues to direct healthcare facilities and local authorities to organize periodic health check-ups and screenings, aiming to cover 100% of the population by the end of 2026. Furthermore, at the Trieu Son National Martyrs' Cemetery in Thanh Hoa province, efforts are underway to identify the remains of unidentified martyrs through DNA testing. The cemetery has 486 unidentified graves, and samples will be collected from 92 of them. From July 1st to 5th, relevant agencies will collect samples from these 92 graves. The process will be conducted with strict control, digitization of records, and secure storage, ensuring accuracy and scientific rigor. Additionally, in Quang Tri province, the Party committee, government, and people of Dong Thuan ward (Quang Tri province) solemnly held a memorial and burial ceremony for four sets of martyrs' remains found in Dan Hoa and Thuong Trach communes, at the Loc Ninh National Martyrs' Cemetery. Attendees paid tribute to the heroes and martyrs who sacrificed their lives for national liberation and the defense of the homeland. Previously, the 589 Martyrs' Remains Collection Team, in coordination with relevant units and local communities, conducted surveys, verification, and search operations to find and collect these remains. Separately, in Nghe An province, support is being provided to families whose fishing boats were destroyed in a fire on the early morning of June 30. Three fishing boats were burned, with two boat owners from Quynh Luu commune and one from Quynh Phu commune. The estimated damage from the fire exceeds 1.5 billion VND. Representatives from the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province provided 15 million VND in support to each of the three affected families. The authorities of Quynh Luu commune offered 3 million VND to each of the two local boat owners, while Quynh Phu commune provided 8 million VND to one local boat owner.
