
Over 20,000 people continue to flee as the military conducts operations along the Chaungma-Kani road, and over 3,000 displaced people in Mawt Htaw town need food supplies
Yangon, May 22 More than 20,000 people are continuing to flee as the terrorist military is conducting operations along the Chaungma-Kani road in Kani Township, Sagaing Region, local residents told Yangon Khit Thit News Agency. The terrorist military has been conducting operations in Kani Township for 24 days since the end of April, and is currently continuing operations at the Layelkyun Pyusawhti camp, Chaungma village, and along the Chaungma-Kani road. Due to these operations, 24,689 people from 28 villages have fled to safety and are still facing difficulties in obtaining food and necessities. "The military's operations are still ongoing in Kani Township. As the military continues to operate along the Chaungma-Kani road, people have been fleeing for nearly a month, and food supplies are urgently needed," said a local resident. Currently, the terrorist military continues to cut off phone lines within Kani Township. Furthermore, during the terrorist military's operations in the villages, 4 civilians were killed and 8 were injured due to aerial bombing. The military also arrested and killed one civilian, and set fire to and destroyed about 20 houses and 5 displacement tents. It is reported that the terrorist military's operations have also involved looting civilian property from 31 villages in Kani Township and wards 1, 2, and 3 of Kani town, and destroying items they did not wish to take. Similarly, over 3,000 displaced people from Mawt Htaw town in Tanintharyi Region are facing livelihood difficulties and need food supplies, local residents told Yangon Khit Thit News Agency. After the terrorist military re-entered Mawt Htaw town on May 18 and May 19, over 3,000 people have been displaced and are taking shelter at Jalun Island School and Kosalayama School. Currently, over 3,000 displaced people are in need of food and medicine. "Among the displaced are family members of those in the revolution. Some family members of those in the revolution have reported them to the military. Some are worried about themselves, thinking, 'Will we be reported? When will we be arrested?
