Cambodia Inaugurates 1.6km Concrete Road Construction in Kampong Cham Funded by Commune Fund

A groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a 1.67-kilometer-long concrete road, funded by the 2026 Commune Fund, was held in Soy Yong Commune, Tang Kor District, Kampong Cham Province on September 23, 2026. The ceremony was presided over by Mr. Hak Monhuot, Governor of Tang Kor District. This road construction project aims to address the genuine needs of the local population and facilitate smoother travel and transportation of agricultural products. It utilizes funds provided annually by the Royal Government through the Commune Fund, reflecting ongoing investment in local development. During the event, Mr. Hak Monhuot conveyed warm greetings from high-ranking leaders, notably Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet and Kampong Cham Provincial Governor H.E. Nuon Pharat. He praised the rapid development of infrastructure in Soy Yong Commune, which has transitioned from a laterite road to a concrete one, with further developments planned. Mr. Hak Monhuot highlighted that the Royal Government prioritizes the construction of public infrastructure such as schools and roads. He explained that the development funds are derived from legal tax revenues collected from investors and major companies operating in Cambodia. He further emphasized that this concrete road is being built using the 2026 Commune Fund, a testament to the government's commitment to responding to the specific needs and requests of the citizens. The objective is to ease travel and the transport of agricultural goods. Additionally, the district governor advised the residents to remain vigilant against the current outbreak of dengue fever, urging them to clean their surroundings to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds and to take good care of their families' health. He also appealed to the community to cooperate in preserving the new concrete road for long-term use and reminded the construction company to diligently implement the work according to technical standards, ensuring quality and timely completion.
