Cambodia and Canada to Strengthen Cooperation Against Online Scams, Justice Minister Highlights Efforts

Cambodian Minister of Justice, Kert Rith (also Deputy Prime Minister), met with Canadian Ambassador Christian DesRoches at the Ministry of Justice on September 21, 2026. The meeting focused on the government's efforts and achievements in combating online scams. Minister Kert Rith emphasized that online scams represent a new form of transnational crime, requiring collective cooperation from all nations to combat effectively. Cambodia expressed its openness to collaborating with all countries and stakeholders to enhance the efficiency of its fight against these technological frauds. Ambassador DesRoches acknowledged and highly commended Cambodia's efforts, commitment, and accomplishments in eradicating online scam crimes. He affirmed Canada's readiness to provide necessary cooperation and support for Cambodia's campaign against online fraud. Furthermore, both the Minister and Ambassador DesRoches affirmed their intention to strengthen and promote legal cooperation between the Kingdom of Cambodia and Canada.
