Dong Nai Province Builds Integrated Transport Network Connecting to Long Thanh International Airport

Dong Nai Province in southern Vietnam is undertaking a significant infrastructure development initiative, investing approximately VND 12 trillion (around USD 470 million) to construct and upgrade several key arterial roads. These projects are designed to enhance connectivity to the under-construction Long Thanh International Airport, which will be the largest in Vietnam. The aim is to stimulate the development of satellite cities around the airport, strengthen links with industrial parks and seaports, and foster the creation of a logistics hub. The three main provincial roads being developed are DT 769, DT 770B, and DT 773. Spanning over 111 kilometers in total, these roads will directly connect National Highways 1A, 51, and 56, Ho Chi Minh City's Ring Road 4, and other vital transport networks to Long Thanh Airport. DT 769, measuring approximately 29 kilometers with an investment of nearly VND 2.8 trillion, is considered the most critical route, directly linking the airport's second gate to National Highways 1A and 51. This project involves upgrading and constructing 6 to 8 lanes and is slated for completion in 2027. DT 770B, over 42 kilometers long with six lanes, will connect the eastern and northeastern parts of the province to the airport, industrial zones, Bien Hoa-Vung Tau Expressway, and Cai Mep-Thi Vai Port, contributing to socio-economic development. It is expected to be completed in 2028. DT 773, approximately 39 kilometers long, will connect National Highway 1A to Huong Lo 10, ensuring seamless integration with Ho Chi Minh City's Ring Road 4. This route is also projected for completion in 2028. Upon completion, these integrated road networks will link Long Thanh Airport with National Highways 1A, 51, 56, Ho Chi Minh City's Ring Road 4, and regional expressways. This is anticipated to alleviate congestion on existing routes, reduce travel times, and create new development opportunities for cities, industrial parks, and logistics centers. Dong Nai Province has already completed and opened several key transportation projects, including the Bien Hoa-Vung Tau Expressway and Ho Chi Minh City's Ring Road 3, along with provincial roads DT 25B and DT 25C. Further projects, such as the Cat Lai and Long Hung bridges, Ho Chi Minh City's Ring Road 4, Nguyen Huu Canh Boulevard, and a connecting route from Ma Da Bridge to Ring Road 4, are scheduled to commence construction in 2026. With the commercial operation of Long Thanh International Airport scheduled for late 2024 and the ongoing development of the expressway network, a new development space with strong connectivity is emerging. This opens up significant opportunities for attracting investment and fostering the growth of industrial cities, commerce, services, and logistics. Therefore, the investment in transport axes connecting the province to Long Thanh Airport holds particular importance. Authorities are urging project investors to meticulously manage progress, quality, costs, labor safety, and environmental protection. They are also called upon to proactively coordinate with relevant departments and local authorities to promptly address any challenges that arise during implementation. The government expresses its hope for continued public support and cooperation from residents in the project areas for these development-driving initiatives.
