Actor Truong Giang Withdraws from '2 Ngay 1 Dem' Amid Controversy

Vietnamese actor Truong Giang has announced his withdrawal from the reality show "2 Ngay 1 Dem" following public criticism over his past on-screen behavior. The decision comes after days of deliberation, with Truong Giang stating his aim to prevent further disruption to the production team and his colleagues. "After discussing with the producer, I request to be excused from filming subsequent episodes," Truong Giang said on September 16. He did not elaborate on the specific reasons for his departure, only mentioning a desire to "take time to reflect and learn more." Truong Giang, a prominent figure in Vietnamese entertainment, is known for his roles in various popular reality shows such as "On Gioi, Cau Day Roi," "2 Ngay 1 Dem," and "Giong Ai Giong Ai," as well as his work in theater and film. Over the past two weeks, Truong Giang has faced renewed scrutiny from audiences who resurfaced old clips from his previous show appearances. In these clips, his actions towards fellow celebrities were deemed "inappropriate" by many viewers, citing instances of excessive physical force and overly familiar conduct, particularly with female co-stars. On the evening of September 14, Truong Giang admitted to a lack of subtlety and maturity, leading to some regrettable interactions. He issued an apology to "those who have been hurt" by his actions. Truong Giang has been a key cast member of "2 Ngay 1 Dem" since its inception in 2022, often playing the role of the "eldest brother" who guides the team's narrative. His comedic timing and interactions with younger cast members have been a significant draw for the program. The current season of "2 Ngay 1 Dem" began airing in August and is currently exploring the central region of Hue. The show features main cast members and guests undertaking two-day, one-night trips across various provinces, engaging in challenges to win better food, accommodation, and living conditions. Losers may face penalties such as going hungry or sleeping outdoors. Truong Giang, born Vo Vu Truong Giang, is 43 years old and hails from Da Nang. He gained fame for his role as Mười Khó in the 2011 live show "Buoc Chan Mien Trung." Since 2015, he has participated in numerous TV shows, comedy stages, hosted events, and acted in films like "49 Ngay," "Taxi Em Ten Gi?," "Sieu Sao Sieu Ngo," and "30 Chua Phai Tet." Throughout his 15-year career, Truong Giang has received accolades including Favorite Stage Actor and Favorite Comedian at the Mai Vang Awards in 2016, and Most Favorite Film Actor at the Ngôi Sao Xanh Awards in 2018. He married actress Nha Phuong in September 2018 after a four-year relationship.
