Vietnam Communist Party Emphasizes Inspection and Supervision for Discipline

The Communist Party of Vietnam is prioritizing the strengthening of inspection and supervision activities to maintain party discipline and enhance national governance capabilities. In a report released on September 16, Party General Secretary and State President To Lam noted that past inspection efforts have evolved from merely detecting violations to becoming a crucial mechanism for institutional improvement and strengthening national governance. Lam emphasized that party inspection, supervision, and disciplinary work must be conducted proactively, promptly, comprehensively, and in a coordinated manner, adhering to the Party's principles, procedures, regulations, authority, and working methods. This reflects a foundational approach within Vietnam's one-party system to maintain the Party's leading role and ensure societal stability and development. Politburo member and Standing Member of the Party Central Committee's Secretariat, Tran Cam Tu, stressed that party building and rectification efforts now require broader and more comprehensive inspection and supervision. This is deemed essential for bolstering the Party's authority and effectiveness, thereby maintaining public trust. A recent decision by the Party Central Committee's Secretariat saw the expulsion of Deputy Minister of Health Tran Van Thuan and Vice Chairman of the Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Huy Ngoc from the Party. This action underscores the Party's stringent stance against corruption and misconduct, signaling the leadership's resolve to take decisive measures against disciplinary breaches. As Vietnam continues its economic growth, it remains focused on maintaining domestic stability and the integrity of the Party. The reinforcement of internal party discipline is a key factor in ensuring political stability for economic reforms and attracting foreign investment. In its foreign relations, particularly with China, Vietnam is seeking to promote agricultural exports and deepen quarantine cooperation, indicating a pragmatic approach to diplomacy.
