Vietnam Abolishes Nearly 700 Administrative Procedures

Administrative procedures across Vietnam are undergoing significant streamlining. By the end of May, local governments nationwide had implemented simplification measures for a total of 411 administrative procedures. These include the abolition of 86 processes, amendments or supplements to 111, and the retention of 214. This initiative is aimed at improving the efficiency of the state administrative apparatus and is expected to reduce the burden on citizens and businesses, thereby contributing to a better business environment. The Communist Party of Vietnam identifies the simplification of administrative procedures as a key task in developing a socialist-oriented market economy. While the one-party system allows for swift government decision-making, flexible implementation tailored to local realities is crucial. This reduction in procedures is part of an effort to eliminate inefficiencies in public life and economic activities, aiming for smoother social operations. Notably, some regions are experimenting with AI kiosks and other technological solutions to enhance procedural efficiency, indicating the wave of digital transformation (DX) reaching the administrative sector. Such reforms are seen as measures to strengthen the foundation supporting Vietnam's continuous economic growth. In its relationship with China, while strengthening economic ties, enhancing economic competitiveness through domestic administrative reforms also promotes Vietnam's strategic independence.
