Vietnam-Colombia Artistic Exchange Fosters Friendship

An artistic and cultural exchange program, co-organized by the Embassy of Colombia, the Da Nang Department of Foreign Affairs, the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Hoi An World Cultural Heritage Conservation Centre, has been held in the central Vietnamese cities of Da Nang and the UNESCO World Heritage site of Hoi An. The program aimed to strengthen cultural exchanges, connect young people, and promote friendship between the two countries. This initiative builds upon the growing momentum of bilateral relations between Vietnam and Colombia. Notably, Vietnam extended greetings to Colombia on its Independence Day, highlighting a deepening diplomatic connection. Furthermore, both nations have been actively working to bolster legislative collaboration. In a demonstration of solidarity, Vietnam provided US$100,000 in emergency aid to Colombia following a significant earthquake, underscoring the humanitarian dimension of their relationship. The current artistic and cultural exchange serves as a vital component in further nurturing mutual understanding and goodwill between Vietnam and Colombia. By leveraging the power of arts and culture, the program seeks to foster deeper connections at a people-to-people level, complementing the ongoing advancements in political, economic, and humanitarian cooperation. Within its one-party system, Vietnam consistently prioritizes economic development as a cornerstone of its national strategy. Simultaneously, the country is actively engaged in cultivating robust relationships with the global community. Cultural exchange initiatives are recognized as a key instrument for harnessing soft power, with the ultimate goal of translating economic prosperity into tangible improvements in the quality of life for its citizens. For Vietnam, navigating its complex geopolitical landscape, particularly its relationship with China, the strategic enhancement of ties with countries in South America, such as Colombia, is of considerable importance.
