Modern Smart Meters Capable of Self-Reading and Payment Being Produced

It is known that modern smart meters capable of self-reading and payment are being produced. The Ministry of Electricity and Energy is comprehensively promoting the improvement of electricity supply, the reduction of electricity loss, and the stable and continuous supply of electricity in the country. Union Minister U Ko Ko Lwin inspected the production of digital meters at a factory producing modern smart meters in the Insekkor Industrial Zone, Bago Region, on the morning of July 20. During the inspection, the Union Minister stated the need to conduct research and development to upgrade hardware and software, to produce natural gas meters and water meters with digital meters, to provide training and education for the continuous production of electronic and IT professionals, and to timely produce and supply the digital meters required by the state. After that, he met with officials from the Yangon Electricity Supply Corporation (Head Office), district and township level electricity managers, township electricity engineers, and township finance officers, and stated that inspections and supervision will be carried out using technology to prevent electricity loss, that the needs of electricity consumers will be met by providing good services, and that call centers will assist the public with patience and understanding regarding their inquiries and information. Subsequently, the Chairman of the Yangon Electricity Supply Corporation presented measures to further improve and enhance electricity distribution in Yangon Region, and it is known that these proposals were addressed.
