Sihanoukville Authorities Bust Online Scam Operation, Arrest 7 Vietnamese Nationals
Sihanoukville authorities have raided two residential buildings suspected of involvement in online scams, seizing electronic devices and arresting seven Vietnamese nationals, one of whom is believed to be staying illegally. The operation took place on September 8, 2026.
On September 8, 2026, the Administrative Unity Command of Sihanoukville Municipality, in coordination with the Provincial Court Prosecutor's Office, conducted an administrative inspection of two residential locations (in the same block) in Village 5, Sangkat 4, Sihanoukville City, Preah Sihanouk Province. The inspection uncovered electronic devices and evidence related to online scamming activities. Foreign nationals were found to be residing at the location without proper travel documents. During the operation, specialized forces seized the following evidence: - Eight All-In-One computers - Three laptops - A total of 74 mobile phones Authorities arrested seven Vietnamese nationals (all male) in connection with the operation. One of the arrested individuals was reportedly without a valid passport and related documents. The seven suspects and the seized evidence have been transferred to the Preah Sihanouk Provincial Police Headquarters for further legal proceedings.
