8 individuals involved in online football gambling and 5 individuals involved in card gambling arrested in Hpa-aw

Eight individuals involved in illegal online football gambling and five individuals involved in card gambling were arrested in Hpa-aw Township, Toungoo District, Bago Region on September 13, according to the Hpa-aw Myoma Police Station. On September 13, at approximately 12:30 PM, based on information that illegal online football gambling was taking place at the house of Aung Ko Thet in Bahu Street (6), Theinkone Ward, Hpa-aw Township, a search and inspection was conducted with a search warrant (No. 5/2026) issued by the Township Police Force Commander. During the search and inspection, although the owner of the house, Aung Ko Thet, was not apprehended, eight individuals involved in illegal online football gambling within the house, namely Naing Win, Min Thant Aung, Hein Wai Phyo (aka Wai Gyi), Kyaw Min Htet, Aung Ye Naing (aka Aung Aung), Han Min Min Aung, Htun Lin Khant, and Wut Yee Phu Aung (aka Chit Su Ma), were arrested. From them, 25 mobile phones, 2 tablets, 3 laptops used for gambling, and mixed currency totaling K135,000 were also seized. Regarding this incident, a case has been opened at the Hpa-aw Myoma Police Station under (Case No.) 60/2026, and action is being taken under Section 33(a) of the Electronic Communications Law. Furthermore, on September 13, at approximately 5:30 PM, based on information that a card gambling session was being held at the house of U Kyaw Soe Lwin in Thapyetan Village, Hpa-aw East Village Tract, Hpa-aw Township, a search was conducted with a warrant. The owner of the house, U Kyaw Soe Lwin, along with U Win Swe, U Kyaw Myo Naing, U San Win, and U Zay Maung Oo, a total of five individuals, were arrested with 110 playing cards, gambling-related items, and K681,000 in cash.
