Thailand to Champion Regional Road Safety Policy with ASEAN Youth
Thailand will host the 'ASEAN Youth United for Road Safety 2026' conference in Bangkok from July 1-5, bringing together youth representatives from 12 countries to develop policy recommendations for regional road safety.
The Thai government is set to spearhead regional road safety initiatives by hosting the international conference, "ASEAN Youth United for Road Safety 2026," from July 1-5 in Bangkok. This event aims to gather 60 youth representatives from 12 ASEAN member states and partner countries to collaboratively devise solutions for the pressing issue of road safety, which continues to claim young lives daily. Participants will hail from Brunei, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Vietnam, India, and Japan. The conference will feature practical activities, including panel discussions and presentations of best practices from national and international representatives such as the Ministry of Public Health, the Ministry of the Interior, the World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF, and the Youth for Road Safety group. Additionally, workshops will be held to enhance youth leadership skills and foster regional cooperation networks, alongside the presentation of youth-led concepts and innovations for promoting road safety. Major Patarasm Thongsloykorn, Deputy Government Spokesperson, stated that the most significant outcome of this international conference will be the formulation of recommendations from ASEAN youth. These recommendations will be forwarded to the ASEAN Senior Officials on Youth and ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Youth, thereby translating the voices of the younger generation into tangible regional policies.
