Two women injured in landmine explosion in Karen State

Two women sustained injuries in a landmine explosion in the forest near Nyangon (Naungon) village in Hpa-an Township, Karen State, according to local residents. Around 10 AM on July 18, Daw Naw La Ku, 36, and Daw Nott Tadu, 45, residents of Nyangon (Naungon) village in Hpa-an Township, were searching for bamboo shoots in the forest near the village when they stepped on a landmine, causing an explosion and injuries, a local resident said. The resident further stated, "The two women who were injured in the landmine explosion sustained shrapnel wounds to their legs, hands, and bodies. The injuries they sustained are severe." The same resident also said that the two injured individuals were transported to Hpa-an People's Hospital by local residents. The Nyangon (Naungon) village is located along the Wa Bo Taw - Kamaung road in Hpa-an Township and has approximately 900 households, according to local residents. It is also reported that on the evening of January 30, a man riding a motorcycle near Takawbo village in Kamaung town, Phapun Township, was involved in a landmine explosion when his motorcycle stepped on it, resulting in shrapnel wounds to his leg.
