Dong Thap Province Honors Blood Donation Heroes in "Red Journey"
Dong Thap Province organized the "Red Journey - Connecting Vietnamese Blood" program and a ceremony to honor outstanding blood donors. The province aims to collect over 8,250 units of blood, encouraging widespread participation. Individuals and families with a long history of blood donation were recognized.
On the morning of July 18, at Dong Thap University, the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation Mobilization of Dong Thap Province organized the "Red Journey - Connecting Vietnamese Blood" program combined with the 2026 Outstanding Blood Donor Award Ceremony. The program aims to reaffirm the importance of blood donation in the community and encourage continuous support. Ms. Dang Thi Thu Uyen, Chairwoman of the Provincial Red Cross Society and Standing Vice Head of the Provincial Voluntary Blood Donation Mobilization Steering Committee, stated, "The theme for this year's 'Red Journey' program is 'Droplets of Red Given - Blooming Lotus Flowers.' The objective is to mobilize and receive over 8,250 units of blood. This is not just a target, but a determination of the entire political system to ensure a safe and timely supply of blood for emergency and treatment purposes." She further emphasized, "What is most honorable today is that we are honoring families and individuals who have persistently donated blood many times, silently contributing through their noble deeds. Some have donated dozens of times, and some families have multiple generations participating in blood donation. They not only give precious units of blood but also transmit faith, compassion, and responsibility to the community." The Provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation Mobilization requested that all levels and sectors continue to pay attention to leadership, innovate propaganda work, build a force of regular and repeat blood donors, and promote the role of organizations, businesses, schools, and blood donation clubs to make the movement spread more deeply and sustainably. The Steering Committee earnestly called on officials, civil servants, public employees, union members, youth, armed forces, and the entire population to actively participate in voluntary blood donation. In the "Red Journey" program and the Outstanding Blood Donor Award Ceremony this year, 525 individuals, collectives, and families with outstanding achievements in blood donation and blood donation mobilization in 2025-2026 were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Prime Minister, the Vietnam Red Cross Central Committee, and the Chairman of the Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee. Certificates from the Provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation Mobilization were also awarded to collectives and individuals with excellent achievements in propaganda, blood donation, and voluntary blood donation mobilization in 2025-2026. As part of the "Red Journey - Connecting Vietnamese Blood" program, in the morning, the Can Tho Blood and Hematology Hospital organized blood reception from volunteers, officials, civil servants, armed forces, teachers, students, and people in the province.
