The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has unveiled its 2027 Tourism Marketing Action Plan, aiming to transform the country's tourism sector under the theme 'The Year of Transformation.' The plan targets at least 5% growth in tourism revenue by 2026, a 60:40 visitor split between major and secondary destinations, and a position among Asia's top three for traveler loyalty. The strategy is built on four pillars: Rebalance Market Portfolio, Shape Experience Platform, Build New Growth Engine, and Transform Together. TAT will diversify source markets, expanding into Eastern Europe and Latin America, and will promote 19 emerging destinations. Travelers will be classified into four segments—Mainstream, Experience, High Value, and Premium—to better match tourism products with visitor preferences. Thailand will shift from its traditional value-for-money positioning towards more meaningful travel experiences. This includes regional travel themes, the development of over 55 community-based tourism destinations, and signature destination branding in areas like Chiang Rai, Ubon Ratchathani, Songkhla, Trat, and Samut Songkhram. Growth areas also encompass premium experiences, health and wellness tourism, international events, and sustainable travel, with expanded sustainability programs in Nan province and the Wellness Valley. TAT will enhance its use of tourism data across its domestic and overseas networks, develop industry professionals, and support travel-related innovations from start-ups. The long-term goal is to position Thailand as 'Asia’s No. 1 High-Value & Meaningful Destination,' emphasizing honesty, safety, quality, and memorable experiences to foster traveler trust and encourage repeat visits.
