Cambodia Reports 90,000 Job Vacancies Nationwide

Cambodia’s Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training announced that approximately 90,000 jobs are currently available across the country. The ministry stated that workers are sought in agriculture, manufacturing, and services, with many positions remaining unfilled due to a lack of applicants. The ministry is disseminating this vacancy information through social media platforms such as Facebook. Local news outlets report that the available jobs are spread across several provinces. Notably, Kampong Speu province has over 21,000 vacancies, while Kandal province has more than 20,600. Additionally, Kampong Chhnang, Kampong Cham, and Kampong Thom provinces report around 9,000 jobs each, with over 4,000 positions available in northeastern Cambodia. The coastal provinces of Kampot, Preah Sihanouk, Kep, and Koh Kong have more than 2,500 openings. The majority of these vacancies are in the private sector, particularly in agriculture, manufacturing, and services. The figures do not include positions within government departments or the civil service. This situation suggests a growing mismatch in Cambodia's labor market amidst economic expansion, highlighting a significant labor shortage in specific industries. The government is likely facing pressure to enhance efforts in connecting job seekers with employers.
