Vietnam Pushes Agricultural Exports, IT, and Infrastructure Development for Growth

Vietnam is pursuing multifaceted initiatives to expand its exports in the international market, including seeking suppliers for agricultural products such as cashew nuts, black pepper, cinnamon, and star anise, as well as natural rubber, rattan and bamboo products, handicrafts, and processed foods, as indicated by interest from Argentinian companies. In the IT sector, Vietnam has become an attractive hub for IT outsourcing, driven by its young pool of software engineers with competitive labor costs and strong mathematical skills. Companies like FPT Software and VNG have demonstrated their competitiveness in international markets, with these sectors benefiting from relatively modest infrastructure spending while leveraging existing human capital. For agricultural exports, experts emphasize that verified coffee-growing data is crucial for Vietnamese exporters to meet sustainability requirements, secure market access, and increase export value. Infrastructure development is also progressing. Hai Phong city is identifying industry, logistics, and port services as pillars of its economy while steering industrial development towards high technology, green production, and sustainability. Additionally, the Da Nang Hi-Tech Park and Industrial Zones Authority has finalized administrative procedures under its jurisdiction in accordance with the FTZ's special mechanisms and policies, preparing the system for deployment. Vietjet Air is expanding its international air network by offering Eco tickets from 0 VND on direct flights between Vietnam and Sri Lanka. Furthermore, Messer sees significant potential in Vietnam's large-scale industrial plants and is considering investments in rooftop solar systems for low-emission hydrogen production, signaling a path towards developing Vietnam's hydrogen economy. Through trade agreements like the CPTPP, Vietnam is pursuing a broad framework that extends beyond tariff reductions to encompass services, investment, and digital trade. The ability of businesses to translate these commitments into new investments, stronger supply chains, and innovative business models will be key to their success.
