Cambodia's Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology has partnered with the UNDP to enhance the 'Early Warning for All (EW4All)' system. This collaboration aims to strengthen natural disaster risk management by improving climate data collection, forecasting capabilities, and dissemination networks.

Phnom Penh, September 10, 2026 -- The Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology, led by H.E. Professor Dr. Aun Chanthy, Undersecretary of State, held a working meeting on Thursday, September 10, 2026, with representatives from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The meeting aimed to strengthen cooperation and partnership in support of the "Early Warning for All in Cambodia" (EW4All) system. This discussion marked the official commencement of the partnership between the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology and the UNDP, as well as the exploration of additional work opportunities in natural disaster risk management. The focus will be on three key strategic directions: 1) Strengthening the observation and collection of meteorological data and water-related disaster risks, while ensuring the sustainability of the observation network. 2) Enhancing the capacity for forecasting natural disaster risks, preparing early warning messages, and coordinating with relevant institutions. 3) Strengthening the dissemination network of the early warning system to reach vulnerable communities and stakeholders in a timely, actionable, and highly effective manner. H.E. Professor Dr. Aun Chanthy affirmed that the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology will continue to strengthen cooperation and work closely with the UNDP in the water resources and meteorology sectors in Cambodia. This includes particularly supporting the enhancement of flood monitoring and forecasting, climate risks, and the Early Warning for All (EW4All) system in Cambodia, as well as seeking opportunities to mobilize further funds for joint work.
