Preparations for Final Rites: Paying respect to the Late Chan Myay Yeiktha Sayadaw

President U Min Aung Haing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, together with officials, paid respect to the remains of the Presiding Sayadaw of Chan Myay Yeiktha Monastery, in Yangon on Sunday. Sayadaw passed away at 11:03 a.m. on 19 September at the age of 99 (Vassa 79). They later paid respect to the Sayadaws led by Sayadaw U Sobhita Bhivamsa of Chan Myay Yeikth. This was followed by the clarification on the preparations for the final rites of Chan Myay Yeik Tha Sayadaw. The President then expressed his heartfelt condolences for the late Sayadaw and submitted matters regarding the arrangements for final rites, and other religious matters. Next, he instructed the Union Ministers and Yangon Region Chief Minister to coordinate the necessaries for the event. Afterwards, the President and wife donated 50 million Kyat for the final rites. They then donated offertories to Sayadaw U Sobhita Bhivamsa who in turn gave Buddha Dhamma treatise written by Chan Myay Yeik Tha Sayadaw. Born on 8 Waxing day of Wagaung in 1290 Myanmar Calendar, the venerable Chanmyay Sayadaw spent his entire life teaching Vipassana meditation and engaging continuously in religious activities based on the teachings of the Buddha. The venerable Sayadaw travelled not only throughout Myanmar but also to various countries abroad to deliver Dhamma talks. He guided his disciples and lay devotees in following the proper path of Dhamma practice.
