NTF-ELCAC Vows Infrastructure Support for Former Conflict Areas

MANILA, Philippines – The National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) will focus on providing infrastructure and basic services to communities emerging from decades of armed conflict. NTF-ELCAC Executive Director Danilo Pamonag said in a news release over the weekend that he would work with national government agencies, local government units, and civil society organizations to promote peace and sustainable development in these areas. The initiative aims to improve the living standards of communities that have suffered from delayed development due to prolonged armed conflict and to prevent the recurrence of conflict. Specific plans include the improvement of infrastructure such as roads, bridges, schools, and health facilities, as well as essential services like access to clean water, electricity, and sanitation. Support for job creation and economic activities is also expected. NTF-ELCAC is a key government body tasked with ending the conflict with communist insurgents, playing a role not only in military operations but also in comprehensively supporting the development and livelihood of residents in conflict-affected areas.
