Prabowo to Issue Presidential Decree Formalizing Perry Warjiyo's Resignation as BI Governor

President Prabowo Subianto is set to issue a Presidential Decree (Keppres) formally accepting the resignation of Perry Warjiyo from his post as Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI). This administrative step follows Warjiyo's submitted resignation letter. Mensesneg Prasetyo Hadi stated that the decree will honorably dismiss Warjiyo from his position. Hadi urged all parties to maintain composure and continue their duties without disruption, emphasizing that the dynamics surrounding the resignation should not impede the institution's operations. "For further action, administratively, we will follow up today regarding the resignation letter. As per the mechanism, a Presidential Decree will be issued concerning his honorable dismissal from the position of Governor of Bank Indonesia," said Mensesneg Prasetyo Hadi at the BI Office, Central Jakarta, Monday (27/7/2026). In accordance with the Bank Indonesia Law, Senior Deputy Governor Destry Damayanti will automatically assume the role of interim Governor, carrying forward all responsibilities. Hadi reiterated the importance of BI's role in maintaining monetary stability, while the government, through the Ministry of Finance, is responsible for fiscal stability, both operating in close coordination. "Subsequently, in accordance with the Bank Indonesia Law, the position of Governor of Bank Indonesia will be automatically held by the Senior Deputy Governor, who will then carry out all duties as the interim governor. The Senior Deputy Governor in question is Ms. Destry Damayanti," he explained. Hadi conveyed that the dynamics occurring regarding the proposed resignation letter should not disrupt the institution's work. He invited all parties to continue performing their roles and responsibilities according to their granted authorities. "This is what we can convey regarding the dynamics that have occurred with the resignation letter proposal, and on behalf of the government, we convey to the entire community that let us continue to carry out our duties according to our authorities as granted by law. Where BI has a role in maintaining our monetary policy, while the government, in this case the Ministry of Finance, also carries out its function of maintaining fiscal policy, of course, remaining in close coordination," he added.
