Khanh Hoa Province to Address School Infrastructure Deficiencies

In Dien Lam commune, Khanh Hoa Province, a meeting was held with constituents prior to the third session of the Provincial People's Council. During this session, the deteriorating state and inadequacy of educational facilities emerged as critical issues raised by residents and school officials. Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong, Principal of Dien Lam Secondary School, reported on the current situation at the Dong Tran 1 branch. Currently, only six classrooms are usable for instruction, and for the 2026-2027 academic year, the school will temporarily borrow facilities from Dien Lam Primary School. To meet the facility standards set by the Ministry of Education and Training, Huong requested provincial support for the construction of 23 new rooms, including nine regular classrooms, eight specialized rooms, six administrative offices, and supporting facilities. Similarly, Phan Ngoc Uyen Trang, Principal of Dien Lam Primary School, highlighted that the facilities at the Phu Coc branch, built over 20 years ago, are largely dilapidated. The school also lacks functional rooms, a boarding canteen, and a health room. The Phu Coc branch was severely affected by floods in November 2025, with water levels reaching nearly two meters in classrooms due to its low-lying location. Although the school has undertaken urgent repairs, some classrooms are still being used as functional rooms, and the absence of a boarding canteen prevents the implementation of boarding services for students. This has been a long-standing desire of parents seeking to improve their children's learning environment and ease family burdens, Trang explained. In response to these concerns, Nguyen Khac Ha (position unspecified) instructed the Party committees and People's Committees of Dien Lam and Dien Dien communes to fully receive the feedback regarding school facilities. He urged them to promptly assess the current condition of educational infrastructure within their jurisdiction and to collaborate with relevant agencies to compile a comprehensive report and proposed solutions for the Provincial People's Committee. Ha emphasized the need to prioritize the improvement of facilities and disaster prevention infrastructure, including flood control, to ensure the safety of students and teachers before the rainy season begins.
