Sun World Granted Over 200 Hectares for Măng Đen Urban Project

Sun World has been granted over 200 hectares of land for an urban development project in Măng Đen, a highland resort area in Vietnam's central Quảng Ngãi Province. This marks a significant step in the development of the region, which is being positioned as a national eco-tourism and resort destination. The "Khu đô thị số 1 Măng Đen" (Măng Đen Urban Area No. 1) project, which is part of a larger development plan encompassing 264 hectares, was awarded to Sun World through an investor selection process. The granted land includes areas designated for residential housing (terraced houses and villas), transportation infrastructure, social infrastructure such as healthcare, culture, education, and sports facilities, as well as commercial zones, tourist attractions, green spaces, and water bodies. Quảng Ngãi Province will issue land use rights certificates to Sun World after the company fulfills its financial obligations regarding land use fees and rental payments. The investor is required to commence development within 12 months of receiving the land and faces potential land revocation without compensation if the project falls behind schedule by more than 24 months. The total investment for the "Khu đô thị số 1 Măng Đen" project is estimated at over VND 6.647 trillion (approximately $270 million USD), with a projected population of around 7,738 people. The implementation phase is scheduled from 2025 to 2034. The project is strategically located in the center of Măng Đen commune, adjacent to major roads, a hydropower plant, and production forests. To facilitate the project, the province has previously approved the conversion of nearly 83 hectares of forest land, primarily consisting of planted three-needle pines, which were managed by Kon Plông Forestry Company Limited and the Măng Đen People's Committee. Măng Đen, situated at an altitude of 1,200 meters above sea level, is renowned for its cool climate year-round, earning it the nickname "the second Da Lat." Quảng Ngãi Province aims to develop Măng Đen into a hub for eco-tourism and resorts, forming a key component of the province's "tourism development triangle" alongside Lý Sơn Island and Sa Huỳnh. The "Khu đô thị số 1 Măng Đen" is envisioned as an eco-tourism zone. This project is the first in a series of three urban development projects that the Sun Group ecosystem plans to implement in Măng Đen, covering a total area of nearly 790 hectares with an estimated investment of approximately VND 27 trillion. The groundbreaking for this series is anticipated in October 2026. Notably, a portion of the project area, approximately 9.4 hectares, was previously allocated to Can Tho University ten years ago for the construction of a training and research center. The university has invested over VND 10 billion in infrastructure for this site.
