The Ministry of Water Resources has announced that scattered showers, strong winds, and thunderstorms are expected across Cambodia from July 18 to 20. This weather pattern is influenced by a low-pressure system affecting the Bay of Bengal, Andaman Sea, South China Sea, Mekong River basin, and the Cambodian sea, alongside the southwest monsoon winds blowing over the Kingdom. Regional forecasts indicate the following: In the plains, temperatures will range from a minimum of 25°C to a maximum of 36°C, with winds from the southwest and northwest blowing at an average speed of 5 meters per second. Provinces such as Banteay Meanchey, Battambang, Pursat, Kampong Chhnang, Siem Reap, Kampong Thom, Kampong Cham, Tboung Khmum, Prey Veng, Svay Rieng, Takeo, Kandal, and the capital Phnom Penh may experience rain and thunderstorms covering 15% of their land area. In the highlands, temperatures will range from a minimum of 24°C to a maximum of 35°C, with winds from the southwest and west blowing at an average speed of 4 meters per second. Provinces like Kampong Speu, Pailin, Oddar Meanchey, Preah Vihear, Kratie, Stung Treng, Ratanakiri, Mondulkiri, and areas along the Dangrek and Cardamom Mountains may see rain and thunderstorms covering 20% of their land area. Along the coast, temperatures will range from a minimum of 25°C to a maximum of 35°C, with winds from the southwest and southeast blowing at an average speed of 3 meters per second. Provinces such as Koh Kong, Preah Sihanouk, Kampot, Kep, and areas around Bokor Mountain may experience rain and thunderstorms covering 30% of their land area. Sea waves are expected to range from a minimum of 0.50 meters to a maximum of 1.75 meters. The public is advised to be aware of this weather forecast.
