Takeo Province Urges Private Sector Participation in Educational Development

In Cambodia's southern Takeo Province, efforts are underway to strengthen the role of the private sector in education. On Friday, September 4, 2026, during the opening ceremony for the new academic year at the private "New Castle General Education School" in Don Kaev City, the provincial capital, Governor Vai Somnang strongly encouraged continued private sector contributions to the province's educational development. The Governor emphasized that private sector cooperation in education is a crucial mechanism for fostering human resource development in Cambodia, a partnership that the government consistently promotes and considers indispensable. Currently, the private sector contributes to the establishment of numerous private educational institutions, including kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools, and higher education facilities. Notably, scholarships are provided to students who have passed the Bak Doep (high school diploma) examinations, thereby expanding educational opportunities and post-graduation employment prospects for youth. The Governor also urged all students to study diligently to become truly capable individuals who can contribute to the nation's construction and development. He stated that participation from all stakeholders, especially the private sector, is a vital driving force in building a robust educational foundation for Cambodia's future. This initiative is positioned within the Cambodian government's national strategy, which aims for sustainable economic growth and human capital development through cooperation with the private sector. Enhancing the quality and equality of educational opportunities, particularly in rural areas, is essential for rectifying regional disparities and improving the overall living standards of the populace.
