CPP Confirms Death of Senior NPA Member, 3 Others in Agusan Clash

The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) has acknowledged the death of a senior member of its North Central Mindanao Region (CPP-NCMR) and three other New People’s Army (NPA) fighters in a firefight with government troops in Agusan del Sur. The cadre was identified as Julia Cagadas-Lastimosa, also known as “Ka Rida." The clash occurred on November 29 in the town of San Francisco, Agusan del Sur, according to a spokesperson for the CPP-NCMR. Government troops reportedly launched a raid on an NPA encampment as part of ongoing operations to quell insurgent activities in the region. The CPP mourned the loss of the members, stating they had contributed significantly to community service and the revolutionary movement. The party also accused government troops of human rights abuses and called for a thorough investigation into the incident.
