Ho Chi Minh City Strengthens International Cooperation with European Visits, Focusing on Talent Development and Digitalization

A delegation from the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee conducted a working visit to France and Hungary from September 12-20, aiming to strengthen international cooperation. The trip focused on advancing the implementation of Party Central Committee resolutions concerning international integration and overseas Vietnamese affairs, while also reinforcing friendly and cooperative ties with French and Hungarian localities. In Paris, France, the delegation met with officials from the French Ministry of Public Service and State Reform, the French Communist Party, and the Computer Science, Data and Artificial Intelligence department of the Paris Institute of Technology. Discussions centered on human resource development cooperation in emerging fields such as AI, science-technology, innovation, and digital transformation. The delegation also engaged with the Vietnamese Embassy in Paris and representatives of the Vietnamese community in France. In Marseille, meetings were held with the Deputy Mayor and local media, including a floral tribute at the memorial for President Ho Chi Minh at the La Marseillaise newspaper headquarters. Deputy Mayor Anthony Gonçalves highlighted the significance of the visit, coinciding with the 115th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's arrival in Marseille, and expressed a desire to further promote cooperation between the two port cities in areas of mutual strength like the maritime economy, logistics, sustainable port city development, healthcare, culture, and education. Both sides agreed to identify priority areas and develop specific cooperation programs in port-logistics, healthcare, and people-to-people exchanges. In Budapest, Hungary, the delegation held discussions with the Budapest Municipal Government and the Hungarian Socialist Workers' Party. They also met with the Vietnamese Embassy, and representatives of the Vietnamese business and intellectual community in Hungary. Cooperation in urban management, planning, public transportation, science-technology, innovation, education, culture, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges were key topics. Both sides agreed to boost collaboration in public transport planning and the application of science-technology to urban traffic management, an area where Budapest possesses significant experience and expertise, with the goal of having public transport meet 50% of citizens' travel needs. During the meeting with the Vietnamese Embassy and community representatives, proposals were put forth, and the Vice Secretary of the City Party Committee, Van Thi Bach Tuyet, encouraged young Vietnamese studying in Hungary to leverage their experience and knowledge for the city's development. This visit to France and Hungary underscores Ho Chi Minh City's proactive approach to local-level foreign affairs, aiming to deepen relationships with traditional partners, mobilize international resources and expertise for new development drivers, and enhance the city's international image and standing.
