Flood Season Water Festival Kicks Off in Hong Ngu Border Area

The second edition of the "Colors of Water in the Borderland" (Hồng Ngự-Sắc nước vùng biên) event, celebrating the arrival of the flood season (mùa nước nổi), was grandly held on September 13 in Binh Hoa neighborhood, Hong Ngu city, Dong Thap province. The event attracted a large number of local residents and tourists from across the country. The flood season is a unique period in the Mekong Delta region, when vast areas are submerged. During this time, local communities adapt their lifestyles to the water and find new opportunities in fishing and agriculture. The event offered various activities to experience this unique natural environment and culture. In particular, experiential programs related to water-based agriculture and fishing drew significant attention. This aligns with the Vietnamese government's push to strengthen the linkage between agricultural economy and tourism. The aim is to leverage the flood season as a tourism resource to boost the local economy.
