Colonel Garry Matagay, to investigate a viral video showing a Tuguegarao vlogger pulling the hair and verbally abusing his wife on July 23. “I have directed the Tuguegarao Police to investigate, verify the facts and ensure the safety and welfare of the victim in a video aired live earlier in the day showing disturbing violent behavior by a vlogger,” the mayor said in a post on Thursday night (July 23). READ: Domestic abuse linked to student dropout rates The Facebook page, shown live by the vlogger, has since been either deleted or hidden along with the FB account but villagers in the city “have been sending me copies and links of the video of the woman being hit repeatedly,” she said. She said the vlogger has been identified as a villager in Ugac Norte but he was not present in his house when the police first visited. The mayor urged anyone with firsthand information about the incident to report immediately to the authorities. “We do not condone violent acts specially against women and children,” she said. Mayor Ting-Que said she forwarded the video to appropriate agencies along them the police, social welfare offices and other government facilities “who may be able to help identify the victim, aggressor and their whereabouts.”
