Cambodia Provides Humanitarian Aid to Flood-Affected Ex-Soldier Families
In Cambodia's Kampong Thom province, humanitarian aid from Prime Minister Hun Manet and his wife has been delivered to 35 ex-soldier families affected by heavy rainfall and flooding. The regional commander inspected the damage and pledged support for their livelihoods.
Kampong Thom, September 25, 2026 -- Major General Som Son, Commander of the Kampong Thom Military Region, Deputy Permanent Chairman and Secretary General, on September 24, led colleagues to understand the living conditions and inquire about the well-being of 35 ex-soldier families affected by floods and facing hardship in the Techo Dibot Chhluk Pring Ex-Soldier Development Center, located in Kraya village, Santuk district, Kampong Thom province. Major General Som Son stated that in the past five days and nights, continuous rainfall caused 35 houses out of 241 houses in the Techo Dibot Chhluk Pring Ex-Soldier Development Center, a donation from Samdech Techo Dibot, to be flooded and affected. These 35 ex-soldier families are unable to pursue their livelihoods. On this occasion, Major General Som Son delivered humanitarian aid from Samdech Moha Bovor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and his wife, Dr. Pich Chandamony, to all 35 families. Each family received 25 kilograms of rice, one case of Mama noodles, two bottles of fish sauce and soy sauce, and one bottle of canned mackerel. Separately, the team stationed at the Techo Dibot Chhluk Pring Ex-Soldier Development Center headquarters received 200 kilograms of rice, 20 bottles of canned mackerel, and six bottles of fish sauce and soy sauce to assist other struggling ex-soldiers. He also continued to study and understand measures for rapid drainage to facilitate their living conditions and prevent damage to their crops. The 35 ex-soldier families expressed their deepest gratitude to Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet and his wife, as well as the Committee of the Cambodian Ex-Soldier and Retired Soldier Association of Kampong Province, for helping to resolve their current difficulties. They also prayed for Samdech and his wife, and all leaders, to receive the four blessings of Buddhism without deviation.
