Philippine Senate's Turmoil Sparks Concern Over Leadership Deficit

He expresses alarm at a situation where, while the public grapples with rising prices, recovering from natural disasters, and enduring successive corruption scandals, the endless livestreams, public feuds, grandstanding, and political drama increasingly dominate national discourse. Abrea emphasizes that the Senate should not become a mere "stage" when the nation is crying out for leadership. He asserts that regardless of political affiliation or majority/minority status, every senator bears the solemn duty to protect not only the Constitution but also the dignity and credibility of the Senate itself. Abrea points out that while passion and accountability are welcome, respect, humility, professionalism, and self-restraint must never be sacrificed. He notes that the world watches the Philippine Senate as a reflection of its democracy, and investors, development partners, and millions of Filipinos worldwide wish to find reasons to admire its institutions.
